Orchestra = 778 seats
Balcony = 280 seats
Total seating capacity is 1058, with 24 handicap seating spaces. From the stage, access to the house via brick stairs extreme stage right and stage left.
Orchestra Pit: Measures 48'x18' with room for seating about 40 musicians.
A Wenger Pit Filler may be erected to cover the pit and extend the stage. (If scheduled in advance and does not conflict with CoMMA’s schedule.) There is a scissor-jack piano lift center. Access to the pit is stage left, across the hall, down the stairs. Music stands and lights are available, with numerous Edison outlets.
Dressing Rooms: Located stage left across the hall are four dressing rooms (2 single;
2 chorus seating 14-20 each), with adequate racks, mirrors, toilet, basin, and shower facilities. A water fountain is in the hallway outside the dressing rooms. There are two rolling racks for wardrobe storage on stage. Monitor and paging are available through Clear-Com stations in each. Iron, ironing board, and Jiffy Steamer are available. There are no pay phones or Green Room, and laundry is nearby.
A company Production Office may use one of the dressing rooms or the space above the Tech Office. Please note: City Ordinance prohibits smoking anywhere within the building.
Stage Dimensions:
* Proscenium Width = 40'-0", Height = 24'-0".
* Plaster Line (PL) to back wall = 39'-7"; PL to Cyc =36'-11".
* Apron (with Pit Filler In) to back wall = 51'-7". Apron (with Pit Filler Out) to back wall= 44'-7"; to PL is 5'-0". Apron (with Pit Filler In) to PL is 12'-0" deep center stage to 6'-0" deep at the sides.
* Right wall to Left wall (in front of the Proscenium) is 66'-4".
* Height from house floor to stage = 3'-6".
* SL Wing is 18'-0" x 39'-7"; SR Wing is 19'-0" x 39'-7". Locking rail is SR.
* Crossovers may be made via the scene shop behind the stage, where props may be stored as well. The back wall is red brick. A Clear-Com stage manager’s console is located Stage Left.
Stage Rigging: There are 39 single purchase line sets (each 52'-0" long), plus a fire curtain. Please see attached hanging list for further details. There is a Cougar Lift and a 16'-0" wooden A-Frame ladder available. A standard trim height for sight lines is 20 to 22'-0". Grids height is 57'-4". There is no orchestra shell.
Soft goods: There are 6 sets of flat black velour legs (28'x10') & borders, one black velour full stage blackout curtain; one mid-stage traveler; one seamless black scrim; one CBS Grey muslin Cyc (28' x 52'); one projection screen (15'x20') with border; and a blue velour Grand Drape manually operated vertically or horizontally. (All legs have a 45 degree return) Under no circumstances may scenery be taped or pinned to any of the soft goods.
Stage Floor: The level stage floor is sprung wood (TNG Oak) over concrete, painted brown. There are no trapdoors. The use of tape, screws, and/or nails in the floor is discouraged, but permitted in limited amounts. CoMMA does not own a Marley dance floor. There are limited stage platforms available.
Lighting: The lighting system is dimmer-per-circuit utilizing an ETC Insight 3 control board running Strand CD80 2.4kw dimmers (DMX control), 288 circuits total. Houselight control is on a separate push-button station station. The control booth is located at the rear of the main seating level. CoMMA has no A/V gear. There are two Strong Xenon Trouper followspots, in the balcony booth. The Company lighting disconnect is upstage left (600 amp, 3 phase isolated power), the Company sound disconnect is downstage left (100 amp, 2 phase isolated power). There are permanent running lights but no cue lights. Luminaries may be hung from selected stage pipes (we have 96 circuits in 13 floating circuit boxes), the First Electric, onstage trees, boxbooms, side coves, or 3 catwalk positions (38'x55' throws cat 2&3, respectively). All connectors are stage 3-pin. Please see attached lighting Inventory and Circuit chart.
Sound: The sound console is located in the Control Booth . Touring boards may set up in the control Booth at the rear of the main auditorium, or on the seats at the rear of the center section. House mixing board is a Sound Craft K2 40 by 8. House playback is through three (3) JBL dsc 260's, Crown and QSC amps to a 5-unit JBL cluster above the proscenium plus 2 left & right speaker clusters of JBL Array. 2 QSC amps and 4 DBX EQ’s are available for stage monitor, playback through 8 JBL MR905's and wedges. There is no separate monitor mixing board. There is also a Tascam ½ track Reel to Reel; Tascam and Sharp Cassette decks; a Denon Cassette CD Combo, Yamaha SPX90 effects unit, TC Electronics M-ONE, PreSonus ACP 88 8-Channel compressor/ limiter/ gate, and a ART Pro-MPA-210 Mic Preamp. CoMMA has (4) Shure SM 58 mics, (8) Shure SM 57 mics, (4) Shure Beta 87 mics, (2) Sennheiser 421s, (2) Shure 81 mics, (2) Shure SM 91 piano or floor mics, a crown PCC floor mic,(4) AKG D3400 Instrument mics, a Shure Beta 52 Kick Drum Mic, (4) AKG C3000B mics, (4) AKG C535EB mics, (3) BSS AR133 DI’s, (5) Whirlwind Imp2 DI’s, (4) SC Series Wireless Beta 87's, a Sennheiser wireless lavaliere, and 1 wired lavaliere. Mic Jacks are all XLR and are located throughout the stage with (3) 11-channel snakes available as well. There are 16 mic stands with 12 booms. A Clear-Com system connects all points of the building, including dressing room paging. A Sennheiser Sound Enhancement system is available in the house for the hearing impaired. In the outdoor Amphitheater, sound is by Allen & Heath Mix Wizard WZ16:2DX
Loading in: The covered loading dock has room for one trailer 10'-0" deep, 10'-0" high opening 3'-0" off the ground (truck height).
The loading dock is at stage level, straight into upstage right, or left into the scene shop area. The door leading onto stage totals 7"-9" wide and 10'-0" tall.
Stage Hands: CoMMA is a non-union house. Local talent performs all work required. Hand tools are limited in type and quantity. Major power tools, welders, etc. are not available.
Pianos: A Steinway 9-foot concert grand and Yamaha Studio upright are available. A Yamaha upright can be put into the orchestra pit.
DIRECTIONS TO CoMMA: From Interstate 40, take Exit 105, turn right toward Morganton, go approximately1.6 miles, bear left onto S. College St. (By the lighted Events Marquee), then go approximated ½ mile (4 blocks), CoMMA will be on the right.
